BGEN is the Botanic Gardens Education Newtwork, strong supporters of DFE 'Growing Schools'. They have issued early notice of their 2010 Conference event to take place at the Royal Botanic Gardens at Edinburgh, November 3-5 2010. Please see below for a great opportunuity to get involved in this brand new nature reserve in the Midlands. 2 Field Studies Officers (part time) Closing date: 8/6/10 £18,000 - £20,000 pa pro rata RSPB Middleton Lakes Reserve Middleton Lakes is a brand new nature reserve in the heart of the Midlands, where we will bring wildlife close to people in innovative and exciting ways. We would like two Field Studies Officers to join our new education team developing and delivering an inspirational programme of first-hand educational experiences. You will work with formal and informal groups both onsite and as part of an outreach programme. The initial phase of development will focus on Secondary, FE and HE students, but will be expected to deliver to all ages. Part time, 6-month contract with the likelihood of extension. Minimum of 26.5 days over 6 months with additional hours paid at an hourly rate. Evening and weekend working may be required. Horton Kirby Environmental Education Centre, housed in the old village Victorian school, offers a range of outdoor education experiences for pupils of school age in the Darenth Valley. In addition to off-site activities the Centre provides children with opportunities to investigate a number of freshwater and terrestrial habitats on-site, as well as take part in natural art sessions.A short term post is currently being advertised.
